Konawaena’s Chanelle Molina — a Washington State commit — is one of two girls basketball players from Hawaii who are nominees for the 2016 McDonald’s All American Games.
The event will take place in Chicago, Ilinois on March 30.
The other Hawaii athlete nominated is Keala Quinlan of Roosevelt on Oahu.
Molina, rated as a five-star guard out of Kealakekua, led the Wildcats to an HHSAA Division I state championship last season, a title they are favored to win again under her leadership this year.
“Chanelle represents the state of Hawaii so well. This nomination is not only great for our school, but for the entire state,” said Konawaena head coach Bobbie Awa in a release. “She is helping put our kids on the map.”
Molina is among 755 high school seniors from 49 states and the District of Columbia who have been culled by high school coaches, athletic directors, principals and members of the McDonald’s All American Games Selection Committee. The full list of candidates is available at mcdaag.com.
